For the capacity planning engine of SQL Governor to normalize and map your existing monitoring data to the new target architecture, the physical target servers must first be created. To create a physical target server, do the following steps:
- Go to Capacity: Physical target servers.
- Click Add new.
- Select the Brand, Series, Product line and Model of the target server.
- Select the CPU model of the target server.
- Give the server setup a name.
- Enter the amount of RAM (GB) and the Cores.
- If you want to save some RAM and/or cores to the operating system, fill the OS RAM (GB) and OS cores fields. These values are deducted from the RAM (GB) and Cores values during planning calculations.
- Click the OK icon.
Repeat the above steps as many as needed. These target servers will be the ones available to you when creating a planning project.
