The tracing page is used to start and stop profile traces – components which collect data from databases at a very detailed level.
To create a trace, do the following steps:
- Click on Trace in the navigation menu.
- Select an instance node (if you want to trace multiple databases) or a database node from the tree.
- Click on Add new record under the grid. A new row will appear.

- If you selected an instance node, you can leave the Databases textbox empty to include all databases, or type in the name of the databases, separated by a comma. If you selected a database node, the textbox is not editable.

- Give the trace a unique name, a start time and a runtime. The runtime defines how long the trace will run for.
- Click on Insert. The trace should now appear in the grid with a status that says "waiting".

When the trace is running, the status will say "running". After the trace has finished, the status will be "completed". You can also stop traces while they are running by clicking on Cancel, or delete them by clicking on Delete.
