By default, only the Undefined customer and service are enabled. For more information on creating new customers and services, see the article How to create services and customers.
In order for services and customers to have any effect, they must be linked to at least one server, instance or database. Services and customers can be linked to units at any level. For example, to link a customer and service to a server, do the following steps:
- Go to Settings: Metadata.
- Select Server settings from the dropdown.
- Click the Edit icon next to a server.
- Select a Customer and a Service from their respective dropdowns.
- Click the OK icon.
The server you edited is now linked to the customer and service you selected. If you want to link all instances and databases running on that server to the same customer and service, make sure to check the Cascade customer and service selections checkbox before linking the customer and service.
Instances and databases are linked to customers and services the same way as servers. To link individual instances and databases, select Instance settings or Database settings from the dropdown.
