SLAs, or service-level agreements, are useful for monitoring the health of your environment in the long run. SLAs can be created for any performance counter in SQL Governor.
SLAs are configured at the level of services and customers. An SLA applies to all servers, instances and databases that are linked to the service and customer you choose. For more information, see the article on How to link services and customers to servers, instances and databases.
Creating the SLA
To create an SLA for a customer and service, do the following steps:
- Go to Capacity: SLAs.
- Select a service from the Service dropdown.
- Select a customer from the Customer dropdown.
- Select a unit level from the Level dropdown.
- Click Add new.
- Select a Performance counter for which the SLA is to be created.
- Select a Period for the SLA.
- Set the Warning threshold and Alert threshold.
- Set the Percentage for the SLA.
- Click the OK icon.
The SLA you created will now apply to all servers, instances and databases linked to the customer and service you selected. They will appear in the user interface the next day after the nightly data mart package has been executed.
You can also add SLAs that apply to all customers, services or both by selecting All services or All customers from the dropdowns.
