One proxy installation can handle up to 25 monitored servers. In multi-domain environments, at least one proxy per domain is required. In single-domain environments with less than 25 monitored servers, the simplest way is to install the proxy on the same machine as SQL Governor itself.
Each server where the proxy is installed has the following requirements:
- A customer-generated, domain-level user account to run the proxy service
- The name can be anything (max 20 characters)
- Needs permissions to log on as a service
- SQL Server Management Studio 2016 must be installed
- The proxy uses SSMS Profiler libraries to run traces
- You can download it from here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/ssms/sql-server-management-studiochangelog-ssms?view=sql-server-2017#download-ssms-165
- If TLS/SSL encryption is required, the proxy server must be able to validate SQL Governor server's certificate
